Critically Acclaimed Canadian Tenor Ken Lavigne performing at ArtSpring

Critically acclaimed Canadian Tenor Ken Lavigne will be performing at ArtSpring on Tuesday December 1, 1015, during a break in his busy schedule he answered a few questions for us.

Tell us a little bit about Ken Lavigne   I’m a classically trained tenor who has sung in many prestigious halls across North America. I’ve just completed a tour that took me as far east Saskatchewan and as far south as California. I’m a husband and father to three adorable children and also proud Chamaniac. I love the outdoors and try to get out on the water and enjoy this amazing west coast as much as possible.

What brought you to Salt Spring Island?    I’ve been invited to perform at the Artspring Tuesday December 1st. Country Grocer has sponsored this event for the community as a holiday gift of music for the community.

What can the audience expect to see from the show?   I draw from a wide variety of music to showcase the virtues and the versatility of the tenor voice. In this concert we’ll be performing Christmas classics from Bing Crosby to Andrea Bocelli. We’ll have a high energy 6 piece band on stage with musicians from Victoria and Vancouver. We’ll also be featuring three lovely talented vocalists from Vancouver who perform in the style of the Andrews sisters, they are are simply amazing performers. Though I believe my personal favourite moment will be the massive indoor snowball fight in the second act.

Does anyone in particular influence your musical talent?   I derive a great deal of inspiration from the great classical tenors of the past such as Pavarotti, Domingo & Corelli.

Will there be CD’s available to purchase?   I have four albums including a Christmas collection and all will be available at the concert.
