BC Ferries has added two late night sailings for the weekend of Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9 providing extra service to ensure smooth sailing for attendees of the inaugural Salt Spring Garlic and Music Festival. The extra sailings will depart from Fulford Harbour at 9:40pm each night on route to Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island.
âBC Ferries is pleased to add these extra sailings as our way to help support this community event,â said Deborah Marshall, BC Ferriesâ Executive Director of Public Affairs. âThese extra sailings will allow festival goers from Victoria to stay a little longer and enjoy the entertainment on Salt Spring Island.â
Festival founder Neale Smith says the announcement is a welcomed one, âWeâre thrilled with the decision of BC Ferries to provide the later sailings. This positive response to our festival allows folks an opportunity to enjoy an incredible weekend of entertainment, food, workshops and events and not worry about missing the ferry home.â
Salt Springâs 1st Annual Garlic and Music Festival features the sounds of Chilliwack, The Boom Booms, and Ganga Giri. Festival goers can savour garlic tastings, visit farm and food vendors, take in music workshops and enjoy the beer garden on site. Come experience a festive atmosphere, and great tunes on a picturesque, rural setting that the whole family can enjoy.
For drivers attending the festival parking is available at the venue, Paradise Farm at 255 Musgrave Road. The cost is $10.00 per vehicle and is first come first serve. Drivers are advised not to park on the side of Musgrave Rd., as violators will be towed. Visitors and locals attending the Salt Spring Garlic and Music Festival will find lots of parking on site. Anyone with accessibility issues will be accommodated, please arrive early. A shuttle service will be provided for those on foot.
As a charitable foundation, proceeds from this event will go towards strengthening the vibrancy of the local music scene, highlighting and encouraging grass roots support of area farmers via farm disbursements and providing plenty of give back to the Salt Spring community.
