2021 Saturday Market in the Park Opening Planned with Limited Capacity

Our "Make It, Bake It, Grow It" Saturday Market Salt Spring will be back this year with limited capacity while we still navigate the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Saturday Market in the Park this year begins on April 3rd, from 9am - 4pm. Operating as an essential service with safety protocols in place, the market will offer farm produce and prepared foods.

The market will be operating as an essential service market offering farm produce and prepared foods with modified protocols in place to meet safety standards set by the Provincial Health Officer. Artisan vendors will be permitted once Provincial Health Orders allow for non-essential vending. Our market follows the provincial health guidelines for vendors concerning food prep and selling of high risk and low risk foods.

Following the Provincial Health Order, masks are required for all vendors and patrons. Market shoppers are encouraged to 'shop and go' in order to maintain social distancing. The Salt Spring Island Market has been referred to as a 'small community’, therefore, we ask that you do not attend the market if you are sick or required to self-isolate.

Please remember to park in the designated parking area only: 262 Rainbow Road, Rainbow Pool.

Salt Spring Island's Farmers Market on Tuesdays will begin late Spring.

I don't usually write these things, but I feel sad that those who are shaming others for their right to peaceful protest, are creating divisions in our community. If you actually talk to those who are not wearing masks, some have medical reasons and others are educating themselves outside the official narrative fed to us by the current government officials and media.

Last year influenza suddenly disappeared and Covid deaths were parallel to past “bad flu years”. “Cases” do not mean people are sick (those who were in the same place as someone who was “tested positive” are put into that Provincial covid case number) – the man who invented the PCR test stated in an interview to not use it for these means and he also had great distaste for the very people who have instituted these protocols (namely Fauci). Asymptomatic people have less than 1% chance of spreading covid, just like any cold virus.

These people that are protesting are bringing light to scientific facts that are being ignored and censored to prolong political and economic agendas. Most of you haven’t noticed the changes that governments all over the world are making concerning these institutions, using covid as a smokescreen to push laws that in the past have been disapproved.

The Health Orders have not been passed using a democratic form of law, they have never been debated nor discussed in our legislatures. There is growing concern about health protocols among neurologists, toxicologists and family doctors. Unfortunately their voices are not being heard and they are being censored and shamed as well. Just because some government, government funded medical personnel and media are pushing a certain narrative, it does not mean it is true. You don’t have to look too far into history to learn that lesson.

Many of those who are not wearing masks have a plethora of educated well researched information. If you would like some of these links to better educate yourselves and not act out of ignorance, please feel free ask (Canadian Doctors Speak Out, Rebel News and Press for Truth for starters). Repeating what the government, government funded medical personnel and popular media reports, is not an educated response.

Shaming has been used in past regimes that did not end well, and the shamers have more often than not been hoodwinked by the head government and those supporting the government. Covid may be more about the economy than health, time will reveal this, although perhaps not soon enough.

Please keep the whole wellbeing of the community in mind and act out of compassion rather than ignorance for all Salt Springers, those who are educated about Covid and those who are still acting out of fear.

  To suggest covid is akin to bad flu year is not supported by fact that I have seen
  What I have seen is Alberta for example had more covid deaths from March to end of November in 2020 than they had from all flus for the past TEN years in the Alberta. So seeing your comment blowing off covid as a bad flu leaves little room to give credibility to any of your other statements purported to be facts.
