New Live Cam at Vesuvius Ferry Terminal

One of the locations for which we get the most requests to install a travel planning cam for Salt Spring Island is now finally live on the Salt Spring Exchange!

The Vesuvius-Crofton Ferry is one of the most notoriously difficult locations to plan travel through on the island. Over the last many years, the run schedule has changed, there have been numerous ship changes, then there are the occasional mechanical and weather delays. Mix in seasonal tourism, hazardous cargo sailings and now, COVID-19 uncertainties, and you have a perfect storm of not having much sense about when, or if, you should travel through the Vesuvius terminal.

Our team at the Exchange hope this new cam helps with some of those uncertainties and becomes another great travel and tourism resource for locals and visitors like the other cams already in our network.

The new Exchange Live Cam at the Vesuvius Ferry Terminal is generously hosted courtesy of the wonderful team at the Seaside Restaurant who offer delicious, local meals as well as special events catering. Dine in on their gorgeous deck, or call ahead for take out. This new cam is sponsored by Whiskers Pet Store who have made a long-term commitment to support some of the considerable costs of hosting the cam at this location for our community.

Thank you to the owners and staff at Seaside for working with us to get this resource safely installed, and a special thank you as well to our networking and IT team for all the problem solving it took to make this happen.

As always, if you have any questions about our cams or other local media services, please be in touch directly with our moderation and support team. The team at Seaside are not able to answer questions or comments about the cam. Please direct those inquiries to the Exchange if you have them.

Travel safe,
