Photos: Grace Islet Burial Protest

First Nations are outraged and deeply hurt by the disrespect of the BC Government and Archaeology Branch in allowing the desecration of First Nations sacred sites, in particular by issuing permits to build a residence atop an ancient burial ground at Grace Islet in Ganges Harbour. They came today to Salt Spring Island to make their voices heard.

Salt Spring Islanders stood with First Nations in calling upon the Minister of Forests Steve Thomson to halt the development and negotiate with the owner to purchase the islet for protection.
