One Billion Rising aims to empower people to stand up against the culture of rape and violence against women around the world.

Julianna Slomka of Salt Spring organized the one-hour effort, which saw a number of people dancing to choreography they had learned for a song called "Break the Chain", with others following along or doing their own thing.
