A new program on gardening, a show about swimming, another about going to the beach, and a program featuring book recommendations are among the highlights coming your way this week on CHIR-FM, the Voice of the Gulf Islands.
Tune in to 107.9 FM (or 102.1 FM in the South End) or stream the station online to hear more than 20 unique local programs on your community radio station.
Highlights for the Coming Week
Tuesday, August 18, 1-2 p.m. — This Song, That Time
Lesley Grott will host a show about swimming. She will be featuring interviews with members of the Salt Spring Seals, a group of adventurers that gather to swim and explore the waters around Salt Spring and beyond every week, and playing songs that bring to mind oceans and swimming.
The show re-airs Thursdays at 1 p.m. and Saturdays at 1 p.m.

The CommPost is a new program hosted by certified horticulturalist Charley Miller, who interviews local gardeners and growers.
Wednesday, August 19, 8-9 p.m. — It's About Story Time
On It's About Story Time with host AmanDa Bapty, this week's theme is "Gone to the Beach."
An hour of songs and poems about saltwater, sand, and that relaxing feeling you get only with your feet dipping in the surf. Expect a selection of songs, poetry and possibly a short story washed up along the way for beach-combing with your ears.
The show re-airs Sundays at 4 p.m. and Tuesdays at 8 p.m.
