Please join us on Zoom Monday, November 30th at 7 PM for a poetry reading with author Lorraine Gane.

Lorraine Gane, now a resident of Salt Spring Island, Gane was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, and grew up in Toronto. She graduated from Carleton University’s Honours Journalism Program, then worked as a full-time writer and editor for major Canadian newspapers and magazines. She also taught writing at Ryerson, McMaster, and Georgian, as well as conducting private workshops. Selections from Lorraine’s first poetry book, Even the Slightest Touch Thunders on My Skin, were shortlisted for the Canadian Literary Awards in 1997 and the League of Canadian Poets chapbook contest. She has also written three chapbooks (Earthlight, The Phantom Orchid, and Beauty and Beyond: Songs of Small Mercies) and two more full-length volumes of poems, The Way the Light Enters and The Blue Halo.

ARC OF LIGHT, Lorraine Gane’s chapbook is a beautiful suite of twenty poems, honouring her mother who died in 2014. The poems bear witness to the transition between this life and the next, through all the shared beauty and pain of letting go. The words provide a sacred place to grieve and to celebrate the bond between mother and daughter. Published by Raven Chapbooks.
