Science Meets Story on the Grandest Stage in the Universe
The Moon. Is there anything quite as enchanting as the dreamlike glow of the full Moon on a clear night? At the time of writing, four Astronauts are on a journey around the Moon. What are the origin stories of the Moon -scientific and cultural- and how does it influence our lives on Earth? Come join Scott -astronomy enthusiast and storyteller- for an intimate evening with our natural satellite.
Get comfy inside the great room at the Nature Conservancy for a truly unique experience, with popcorn, a light show, a projector screen, and the epic scientific and mythological stories of the Moon.
Through storytelling and interactive activities, we’ll explore topics like the origin of the Moon, the Apollo and Artemis missions, cultural connections to the Moon, and more! Then, we’ll learn about how local Indigenous Peoples have connected to the Moon since time immemorial.
Weather permitting, we’ll venture outside to meet the sky, the moonlight in our eyes and the cool air on our skin, and look through a 130mm telescope at distant celestial objects.
In honour of the WSANEC People and their Moon stories, and with the intention to support that culture, 20% of proceeds will be donated to the LAU,WELNEW Tribal School.
