    Item Description:

    Dear Island Farmers,

We are inviting you to participate in an independent survey about the reality of Farming on Salt Spring Island.

The goals of this survey are as follows:

First, we are collecting data and feedback from a variety of farmers in the community. With this data, we aim to work with the local governing bodies to create changes in legislation that better support our farming community.

Secondly, we want to help young, energetic people wanting to farm to get connected to land and ensure the future of food security and sustainable land stewardship on the Island. Special importance is given to creative solutions for working communal land stewardship models.

Please fill out this survey as accurately as possible, your feedback is important! All questions are optional, although the more complete the data is the better the results will be.

The summarized results of the survey will be shared publicly. We will not disclose specific data or your personal information to anyone outside the research team.

If you choose to provide your name and contact information, we can send you the results of the research directly. You may also specify you’d like to remain anonymous on the last page.

The study is being conducted by Synchro Marketing Research Ltd, an independent Canadian market research firm.

    Thank you!

    Freyja Skye

Selling the idea of interconnectedness and all it entails is one of the toughest pitches environmentally minded people have to make. Living on an island fosters an acute sense of community and belonging, which can in turn lead to greater […]

This is a letter just sent to Peter Grove after a disappointing shift today, after what seemed like a terrific meeting with Islands Trust staff – Stefan, Toby and Karol – at our site.
