Refreshing your sea kayak skills this fall by taking your paddle skills to the next level! Beginner/Intermediate Course
The level 1 Paddle Canada Skills course is a 2 day foundation that moves participants beyond flat water kayaking and into a greater confidence in sea kayaking skills including: Paddle techniques, re-entry skills, knowledge based assessment of risk vs. hazard, safety measures, navigation and route planning for a day trip, weather interpretation, tides and currents and more.
The course will run from 9:30am - 4:30pm both days. on the lake On the first day we will practicing on the water skills paddle strokes and re entry techniques and learn foundations of tides, weather and navigation. The second day will be a full day on the ocean following the Saltspring Island shoreline, a route that we will choose together. You will have a chance to continue practicing skills from the first day and begin to develop your leadership and navigation skills on the water.
You will be required to provide your own sea kayak (ask about rental), paddle and safety gear and full immersion gear of a wet suit or dry suit. As well as lunch and snacks for both days.

At present, I have the following certifications: Paddle Canada Level 1 and Level 2 Instructor, and Level 3 Skills, as well as Level 2 Guide with the Seakayak Guide Alliance of BC.
