Proposed Bylaw No. 512 will rezone approximately 400 properties on Salt Spring Island to permit cottages for full-time residential rental, instead of “seasonal cottages” for temporary use. Proposed Bylaw No. 512 also includes the following regulations in aﬀected zones:
• installation of rainwater catchment systems to provide potable water for new cottages;
• prohibition on using cottages for Bed and Breakfast home-based businesses; and
• registration of a restrictive covenant on title prohibiting subdivision Proposed Bylaw No. 512 was developed to increase the supply of rental housing on the island in a way that is consistent with Section B.184.108.40.206 of the Salt Spring Island oﬀicial Community Plan.
