Public Notice is hereby given to the electors of:

Juan de Fuca, Salt Spring Island, and Southern Gulf Islands Electoral Areas in the Capital Regional District, and the electors of:
Galiano Island, Mayne Island, North Pender Island, South Pender Island, Salt Spring Island, and Saturna Island Local Trust Areas that nominations for the offices of Electoral Area Director, Salt Spring Island Local Community Commissioner, and the Office of Local Trustee respectively will be received from 9 am, Tuesday, September 1, 2026 until 4 pm, Friday, September 11, 2026.

During that period the nomination documents shall be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person from 9:00 am–4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays, by hand, mail or other delivery service to the Capital Regional District, 625 Fisgard St., Victoria, BC, V8W 1R7, or by Fax: 250.360.3130, or by Email: elections@crd.bc.ca. Appointments are highly recommended and can be booked by emailing elections@crd.bc.ca or by calling 250.360.3127.

Representation will be as noted below and shall be for a 4-year term commencing November 2026 and terminating in 2030 after the election held in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act:

Candidates shall be nominated in writing by two qualified electors of the Electoral Area or the Local Trust Area, respectively, in which the candidate is running for office. To qualify, a candidate must be 18 years or older on voting day (October 17, 2026), a Canadian Citizen, have resided in British Columbia for six months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed, and not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or another enactment from voting.

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2026 general local election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:

Electoral Area Director (Salt Spring Island) - $ 7,169.36
Salt Spring Island Local Community Commissioner - $ 7,169.36
