Salt Spring Early Learning and Little Rainbows Early Learning Centres are seeking dedicated, motivated, and positive Early Childhood Educators to join our amazing teams! Run by the Gulf Island Early Learning Society non-profit, we’ve been supporting Salt Spring children since 1982. We provide a stimulating and creative play based and nature focused environment where children are encouraged to develop their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical skills. We are looking for educators who are energetic, confident, have a passion for teaching children, show initiative, and can work in a positive team environment.

We are open year-round, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm except for statutory holidays. Our competitive hourly wage is based upon qualifications (ECEA - IT), experience, and education, ranging from $22 - $28, plus qualifying staff will also receive the supplemental $6/hour ECE Wage Enhancement.

We offer paid sick time (a generous 12 days annually), professional development (both covered professional days and educational stipend), a Health Savings Account, and reduced childcare rates for employees’ children. We will also assist in securing housing if needed. Full time, part time and sub/casual applications are all welcome.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have a valid certificate or diploma to practice in British Columbia in Early Childhood Education (ECE, ECEA, or ECE/IT) or be enrolled in a ECE BC certified program
- Experience working with children in a childcare setting
- Emergency Child Care First Aid & CPR
- Completion of the Early Learning Framework modules
- Current Criminal Record Check
- Ability to plan, prepare and implement developmentally appropriate activities based on interests of the child that will meet their physical, cognitive, intellectual, social, cultural, creative, and emotional needs
- Facilitate group activities
- Strong interpersonal skills and works well in team-based environment

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality care for children
- Work as a team in cooperation with multiple ECEs and under the supervision of the centre manager/lead
- Follow guidelines set out by BC Childcare Licensing Regulations
Practice active supervision of children during indoor and outdoor activities
- Plan, maintain, and ensure an environment that protects the health, security, privacy, and well-being of children
- Guide and assist children in the development of daily care routines
Have effective interpersonal skills with parents, children, and other staff members
- Plan and lead developmentally appropriate, Montessori & Reggio inspired, inclusive and high-quality programs for children.
