SD64 is looking for Homestay families for International students from around the world. Many students who were not able to join us this year deferred their school plans and are hopeful in joining us next September. We have students wishing to come from 15 different countries, so far. These countries are mainly in Europe, Asia and Africa.
We understand that safety is a concern, and although many of us should be fully vaccinated by September it is important that we point out that any student arriving currently In Canada requires a negative diagnosis for COVID before they fly and then they are tested again upon arrival. Currently travellers also need to be quarantined for two weeks and require a third COVID test on their 8th day. We are unsure at this time if this will still be the case in September, but are preparing for that just in case.
We are looking for homestays to provide care for a 5 month or 10 month student as well as homestays that would be able to provide respite.
There is an honorarium provided for Homestay families, both for full time or respite, with an additional quarantine fee if that is needed to be provided.
Basic expectations of a Homestay family:
· Provide a clean, safe, nurturing, supportive home environment.
· Provide a private furnished bedroom (must have egress window).
· Provide 3 meals/day plus snacks.
· Provide help with transportation (for extra-curricular activities) as well as to school if school bus is not available.
