|Full Name||Stonecutter Farm|
Update: Both Saturday and Sunday Courses now full...Thank you all so much for your support!
Do you want to turn your yard into Butchart Gardens or start a plant nursery? Or do you just like spending time messing about in the garden?
Join us at Stonecutter Farm Oceanfront Plant Nursery for ten sessions over twelve months exploring many different ways of propagating flowering shrubs, trees, and rare plants.
You will take home copies of each plant you learn to propagate, worth much more than the cost of the course. You will have thousands of dollars worth of plants very quickly.
Some plants are worth learning multiple methods for, such as the gorgeous drought, deer, winter hardy hibiscus shrubs which we will grow from seed as well as dormant bud and green shoot methods. From seed they will be up to 3' tall in six months!
The first Fall session will be Sunday September 20 at 3pm
Please contact Patrick by email to sign up as soon as possible as space is limited to four students.
Each session will be about two hours on a Sunday.
This is a list of the plants we will be propagating, in some cases we will do multiple cultivars of a plant. All plants are winter hardy on Saltspring:
Giant Calla Lily
Choisya Ternata (Mexican Orange Blossom)
Euonymus (Burning Bush)
Philadelphus (Mock Orange)
I learnt so much in Patrick's 2019 Plant Propagation Course. I had poor results with cuttings and layering in the past but Patrick gave me encouragement to keep trying with lots of samples. The course taught me to look at most plants with potential for cloning . He made it fun to experiment and try different methods. Patrick has a ton of knowledge and encouraged us to take lots of plants home. V.P., Saltspring
