Established through the generous bequest of Dr. James Buchan, this trust provides annual awards to former students of Gulf Islands Secondary School who are attending an accredited medical school on a full-time basis.

Selection criteria may include:
• Academic excellence
• Financial need
• Leadership and school or community involvements

Awards may be renewed in subsequent years upon reapplication, and award values may vary. A complete application includes a cover letter, resume, academic transcripts, letters of reference, and income information.

Application Deadline: June 20, 2026
