Are you looking to get more involved in the Salt Spring Island community? Do you like cats and kittens? Why not VOLUNTEER with US!

Since 2021, Cats of Salt Spring Rescue Society has been helping cats, kittens and cat owners / colony caretakers in this community. While we began focused on colony management and intake of stray / unwanted cats in the community, our mandate has stretched to include intake of cats needing to be surrendered (by people who are moving, or otherwise unable to keep their cats), as well as providing low-cost spay / neuter services (and other vet care) for folks in need.

As we approach our BUSIEST time of the year (April to September), we are reaching out for new volunteers. We need help in a lot of different areas:

FOSTERING - moms & babies; adult cats needing socialization; palliative care.

FUNDRAISING - we need more bottle drive volunteers! We are a fun group - why not give a bottle drive a try? We REALLY need to work hard to fundraise throughout the year. Maybe you have a great fundraising idea for us???

SPECIAL EVENTS - we hold events throughout the year - our ADOPTION EVENTS (at Foxglove & Whiskers); we attend the FALL FAIR and the HOME SHOW. We are always looking for engaged and passionate (about cats) people to assist.

FOSTER PARENT SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS - some of our foster families need help with cleaning, feeding and care. If you are interested in providing assistance one day per week, this is a huge help to us. (Please note that these volunteers must be 18 years or older).

TRAPPING ASSISTANCE - we are often called upon to help caretakers / property owners to manage colonies.
