Salt Spring Community Consultation
Monday November 25, 2019
6:30pm – 9:00pm
Lions Hall, 103 Bonnet Ave, Salt Spring Island
The Province of BC is asking people to give feedback in preparation for the creation of new laws, standards and practices that support people with disabilities to live with dignity and to meaningfully participate in our community.
What would help people with disabilities to be more included in the community?
What are the physical, technological and attitude barriers that could be changed?
An accessible and inclusive community benefits all of us, and this process could be an important step to improving lives and communities. The good news is that the framework is not yet finalized, and the government is asking for feedback before moving to the next steps.
Here is your chance to be part of that process.
The Salt Spring Community Alliance is hosting a community discussion to get feedback and ideas from Salt Springers about what is most important to us in terms of accessibility and inclusion. We will also talk about outcomes we would like to see from the new legislation so that it can truly make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
You don’t need to be an expert in order to participate. It is important for people with a lived experience of disability and those who live and work with them to be heard in this process.
Please help us get people out to provide real-world experience and make this important legislation work for everyone.
