# Cari Burdett brings Don’t Forget Album Release Tour to Salt Spring Island

Saturday, October 17 at 4 p.m. at All Saints by-the-Sea
Special guest Maeve Iredale opens the afternoon

Singer-songwriter Cari Burdett brings her Don’t Forget — Salish Sea Album Release Tour to Salt Spring Island on Saturday, October 17, for an afternoon of new original music at All Saints by-the-Sea.

Opening the concert is special guest Maeve Iredale, bringing her own music to the stage before Cari and the band.

Burdett will be joined by a stellar five-piece band of award-winning and internationally touring musicians — Adrian Dolan on keys and as musical director, Wes Carroll on guitar, Nick Mintenko on bass and Alex Campbell on drums.

Released September 18 after eight years in the making, Don’t Forget is a seven-song album exploring friendship, grief, belonging, healing, nature and love.

The album has travelled a long road to reach the stage. Following the release of her previous album Magnolia, Burdett experienced an unexpected vocal injury that left her with a paralyzed vocal cord and forced the cancellation of a planned Canadian and jazz festival tour.

The years that followed became a journey of healing, reconnecting with nature and eventually finding her way back to her voice and music.

Salt Spring holds a special place in that story. Burdett spent an important year of change and healing on the island, immersed in nature connection, while her two younger children attended school here. Returning now with this new music brings part of that journey full circle.

Don’t Forget began taking shape at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, where Burdett met Toronto producer and multi-instrumentalist Robbie Grunwald. With support from the Canada Council for the Arts, Burdett later travelled to Toronto, where she and Grunwald developed and recorded the album with an outstanding group of Canadian musicians.

The project continued through the pandemic, and after Burdett’s voice healed, she was finally able to complete the album, with the final vocals and strings recorded in British Columbia with longtime collaborator Adrian Dolan.

Now, after eight years, these songs are finally coming to the stage.

The Salt Spring concert will bring the songs of Don’t Forget to life with the full band, alongside music from Burdett’s earlier work and new unreleased originals.

Come spend a Saturday afternoon at beautiful All Saints by-the-Sea, hear some new original music, catch Maeve Iredale’s opening set, and celebrate the release of Don’t Forget together.
