Salt Spring Island Cheese has a position opening for its seasonal café.
Time required per week:
The position available is full time during the summer season starting at the end of May until the beginning of September, and requires flexibility and availability on weekends.
The Café Manager and Chef is responsible for managing the Café at the Salt Spring Island Cheese Company’s location. The position demands overseeing the preparation and resale of all food sold through the café as well as supervising and scheduling all employees related to preparation of such food. Responsibilities also include developing a menu and maintaining high food safety standards. As part of its duties, the Café Manager and Chef is also required to perform budgeting, ordering, inventory and some administrative tasks.
• Excellent understanding of regular cooking techniques, and insists on the highest standards of culinary practices and results for our customers
• Professional manner with employees and managers, as well as with customers and suppliers, while maintaining friendly relationships
• An aptitude for customer service
• Enjoys working in a small but focused team
