For many years, I enjoyed finding ties on my regular trips to thrift stores, as a theatre costumer. I washed, gutted and sorted them by colour and made one-of-a-kind vests from them.
Twenty years on, I tried to sell the ties on the list, to no avail. Not wanting to waste them, I considered a suggestion to braid rugs, but weaving beckoned louder.
Once I dove into the colours, appreciating their patterns and quality, I was hooked again. A perfect quarantine project - recycling ties into something useful. This exhibit was created with over 400 ties.
Most are not for sale, but if you are interested in one, please contact me at bootsieis@gmail.com
