BEACON COMMUNITY SERVICES AND IN MOTION & MOMENTUM GROUP LAUNCHES BOTTLE DRIVE FOR BC SPCA WILDFIRE ANIMAL RELIEF

SALT SPRING ISLAND/SAANICH PENINSULA, August 21st, 2026 — Participants from the In Motion & Momentum+ (IM&M) workshop series have officially launched a community-wide bottle drive initiative to raise essential funds for assisting pets and wildlife impacted by BC’s regional wildfires.

The initiative, spearheaded by the local IM&M group as part of their community action module, aims to turn everyday recyclable beverage containers into financial aid for emergency animal relief in wildfires affected areas across British Columbia.

Wildfires cause immense displacement not only for people, but for pets, livestock and local wildlife. The workshop team wanted to put their momentum into direct, meaningful action. By organizing this bottle drive the groups aim is to make it simple for local communities to come together and support the dedicated relief teams caring for vulnerable animals.

Community members can contribute by dropping off clean, empty returnable containers — including aluminum cans, glass bottles and plastic beverage jugs—at designated collection points until August 31, 2026. All proceeds will go directly toward the BC SPCA.
