The Gulf Islands Marine Rescue Society is seeking donations of serviceable marine related items for our annual Marine Garage Sale on Salt Spring Island, Saturday May 28, from 9:00 – 11:00 am, at the Search & Rescue Hall, 261 Fulford Ganges Rd.

This well attended event raises much needed funds to support our Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue (RCMSAR) Station 25. We are a volunteer organization operated by the Gulf Island Marine Rescue Society (GIMRS) that maintains a permanent 24/7 marine search and rescue capability in the vicinity of Salt Spring and surrounding Islands.

We consist of 30+ volunteer members – men and women of all ages - with a search and rescue vessel based at Vesuvius Harbour. Our core function is responding to marine search and rescue emergencies; however, we also engage with our local community through a variety of Marine Safety Awareness and Education Programs.

For big ticket items we can provide a tax receipt at fair market value, so please feel free to be generous. Items donated in previous years include skiffs, kayaks, marine radios, old outboards, dinghies, stoves, pfds, anchors and line. We can also take marine publications, books, painting and decorations.

If anyone would like to support marine search and rescue in our waters with a cash donation we are most grateful. Donors are encouraged to drop by the sale or get in touch – we will provide a tax receipt.
