    An Evening for Book Lovers. October 18th at 8pm. Salt Spring Island Library.

    Merilyn Simonds is well known for her “Beautifully wrought, emotionally complex” novels, essays and stories. She will be reading from her latest book :”Gutenberg’s Fingerprint”, described as: “An intimate narrative exploring the past, present and future of books.” She is also known for setting up the Kingston Writers Festival, and for being a previous chair of the Writers union of Canada.
    Merilyn lives in Ontario and in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

    Kathy Page lives on Salt spring and is the author of several novels and short story collections; the last two of which were both Giller prize nominees. Her work has been described as:” Beautiful…daring…giddy…startling…intricate…fine…” by Sanvyleta in the Walrus. Kathy will be sharing her fascination with the power of letters- real, hand-written letters- and will be reading from her forthcoming book “Dear Evelyn”, inspired by her father’s correspondence during WW2.
