LOST DOGS
SOMEONE MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE DOGS
Dear Salt Spring community- I am writing this post in the hopes that someone is moved to have a heart and provide any information they have about these dogs so that the family is at least able to have some closure and begin to heal. In an ideal world, they would get them back. The children in this family are crying themselves to sleep every night. This situation touches me personally as I have two dogs that could be siblings of these two, and if they are like mine, these are beloved family dogs, softies, cuddle buddies, love-hounds. I cannot fathom the pain the family is suffering.
As many of you are aware, these two dogs, took off for a romp two weeks ago in a moment of opportunity as dogs do. They Ran off from Furness Road and were seen running through Akerman’s gravel pits, and then nothing since, they’ve disappeared. If they were still out there and free, I don’t think it’s possible for there to be no glimpse of either for so long on this island. These are not hearty Huskies running around the mountains. Someone must know something, please ask everyone you know. Either they were shot by a farmer protecting livestock or, someone decided to keep them. If a farmer shot them, they likely would not wish to be identified, even if they felt justified. If someone decided to keep them, it’s just not right, they are part of someone’s family. PLEASE, return them to those they belong to. If they were taken off island, at least let the family know that they are ok, not cold and hungry, and then bring them back. No one will have to know it was you.
I would like to offer myself as a neutral conduit for someone to come forward anonymously with any information you have about these dogs. Someone on this island knows what happened to them. If the dogs are no longer alive, their people need to know. It’s terrible not to know.

If you have the dogs, please consider dropping them at the enclosed dog area by the Rec Centre on Rainbow Road. Salt Springers, as you drive by, have a look to see if they’ve been left there. If they are there, contact the CRD immediately so they can reunite them with the family.
