Had a rare opportunity today to tour the new library being built in town to check in on the progress being made in our newest community building with Duncan Hepburn Chair, Building of the Committee with the Salt Spring Island Public Library Association. Here's my prediction. This building isn't just going to be a library, it is going to become the town centre of activity for gathering, sharing, connecting, learning and exploring all year round. It's an incredibly beautiful and well planned building. In addition to all the most important amenities you would expect from a local library the building boasts a community meeting room that will be outfitted with a project screen, projector and sound system with an outdoor gathering area, meeting rooms for community and business meetings and great places for the community to connect around books and learning all around the space.
