Thomas Knoth December 20, 1949, to February 1, 2025 Our beloved Thomas was ripped out of our lives on February 1st, by an aggressive cancer that swept through him in 11 short days. He had been happy and healthy up until then, working hard on our property, creating walking trails to be able to enjoy the land into old age. He was living his best life in his workshop, creating beautiful furniture and discovering the joy of lathe work and building fine pieces from wood he had collected. Thomas was bigger than life, full of ideas and projects, still waiting to be done. He leaves behind his long time life companions, Katharine, Christel and Ron, as well as his two children, Andreas and Janina, and grandchildren, Makena, Caeden, Amanda and Ryan. Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Burridge, nee Jenkins July 20th, 1928 - October 27th, 2022 Betty was a devoted wife to Tony for nearly 70 years, a mother to three children, Wendy, Katharine and David, grandmother of five and great-grandmother of nine, scattered across Alberta, Australia and Salt Spring. Betty was born in Vancouver and spent many childhood summers on Galiano, Gossip and Salt Spring Islands, though her family moved to Ottawa during WW 2. She met Tony, a childhood friend of her brothers when he visited Ottawa during one university summer holiday. They married in 1951. She was an elementary school teacher and never lost her love of children and learning, which continued on Salt Spring with her long commitment to the library and the Arts in Schools Program. Tony’s RCAF officer career meant many moves across Canada, Colorado, and France. Betty particularly loved their time in France as they travelled Europe widely, became fluent in French and made life-long friends. …
