Each Full Moon brings its own wisdom, teachings, and medicine through the lens of a particular archetype. The Full Moon will often bring something to fruition and illuminate things that have been hidden. Each month we experience a subtle shift as the Full Moon highlights specific archetypal themes, emotions, and feelings. For many, the Full Moon amplifies the way we interpret and experience both our inner world and the world around us.
Happy Full Moon and Eclipse in Virgo!
The Full Moon at 12° Virgo (3:38 am PT) is accompanied by a total lunar eclipse, in this case a “Blood Moon”, due to its reddish hue as sunlight is refracted through the earth’s atmosphere. Depending on clear skies, this eclipse will be visible from most of North America. On Salt Spring we can see the eclipse starting at 12:44 am with the total eclipse starting around 3:04 am.
This Lunar South Node eclipse is the third in a series of Virgo eclipses (the first was in March 2025, the second in September). Take a moment to reflect on the story that’s been playing out, especially in letting go of self-criticism, perfectionism and toxic people. This third eclipse in Virgo will continue the release process.
Eclipses are wild cards. They can coincide with unexpected events, plot twists, and the closing of old chapters whilst initiating new beginnings. In Virgo, you might find yourself overthinking everything which can lead to analysis paralysis. Take a deep breath, tend to your nervous system, let go of the illusion of control, and put something on the backburner for now.
This is a South Node eclipse, which is typically a time of letting go of whatever is keeping us from growing. We are invited to release and let go of the Shadow side of Virgo in the form of self-doubt, perfectionism, anxiety, guilt, and negative thinking.
This Full Moon and eclipse occurs in the midst of an already chaotic Mercury retrograde in Pisces. Mercury is both in its Fall and its Detriment in Pisces, meaning that it can’t express its essential communicative nature in a direct way.
For the next 23 days, expect feelings to override facts. Boundaries can soften and dissipate at the edges. Memories, dreams and nostalgia may seem more tangible than reality.
Watch for tech breakdowns, computer crashes, and even major sites to go down. Of all Mercury retrograde periods - in Pisces it’s especially important to avoid starting something new, sign contracts, or move forward on a project. When the rose-colored glasses come off, not all will be as it seemed.
Over the next three weeks, outlines are indistinct, and what is intended may lose its shape. Best laid plans can dissolve through no fault of our own, leaving us empty handed when the dream dissipates.
Cultivate patience and discernment during this retrograde. Double check everything and know that some things may have to be revised or renegotiated when Mercury stations direct o March 20th. And some things may simply float away on the outgoing tide.
Virgo, the opposite sign of Pisces, is the ruler of this Full Moon and eclipse. Where Pisces is dreamy and nebulous, Virgo’s medicine teaches the value of sorting the seeds, cultivating healthier boundaries, and that there is beauty and serenity in order. Virgo shows us how to cultivate discernment.
This is the last Full Moon of the Astrological year, before the Wheel turns anew on Spring Equinox. So, take a moment to consider what you want to leave behind as we prepare for a whole new cycle of rebirth.
5 Tips to Work with the Virgo Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse
• This Full Moon can bring anxiety and insomnia. Consider a nervine tea or tincture to calm frazzled nerves such as passionflower, skullcap, or wood betony
• Virgo loves ritual: begin a simple daily practice for grounding: walk, meditate, journal, read a passage from an inspiring book
• Sort the seeds: plan, streamline, organize and spring clean
• Prioritize self-care and tend to your nervous system
• Set boundaries on your time and energy
