Each Full Moon brings its own wisdom, teachings, and medicine through the lens of a particular archetype. The Full Moon will often bring something to fruition and illuminate things that have been hidden. Each month we experience a subtle shift as the Full Moon highlights specific archetypal themes, emotions, and feelings. For many, the Full Moon amplifies the way we interpret and experience both our inner world and the world around us.

Like a lantern in the dark illuminating a winter’s night, the Full Moon at 13° Leo shines light on our next steps on February 1st at 2:09 pm. Falling on Imbolc, the Snow Moon marks the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.
Imbolc is the Gaelic cross quarter festival sacred to the saint and goddess Brigid that has long been considered a time of inspiration and hope, the harbinger of spring. The days are now growing visibly longer, as we consider the future and contemplate the seeds we’d like to plant for the coming growing season.
We must remember that growth and transformation occur first in the quiet darkness of the earth’s womb, and there’s much going on beneath the surface that we might not yet be consciously aware of. These first stirrings are the promise of new life to come.
To dare to hope, requires a measure of courage that is not always easy to access, especially if our inner flame has dwindled to the point to where it no longer sustains the spirit. When this happens, we may feel literally dispirited, cut adrift from our essential joy.
This Full Moon reminds us to celebrate the joys of embodiment. The Leo Full Moon asks what makes us feel most alive and shows us where we can shine. This is not a Full Moon of quiet reflection, but an invitation to inspiration and self-expression.
The word inspiration comes from the Latin, inspiritus, or to breathe into. Miriam Webster defines the word inspiration as “a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation”. Our task now is to rekindle the spark within, no matter how faint, and gently tend this flame into a glowing hearth fire that sustains us through the coming storms.
Uranus stations direct just two days after this lunation, so take care of your nervous system and expect the unexpected. Plot twists, breakthroughs and sudden insight can disrupt the status quo, so stay nimble and prepare to pivot. This Full Moon also initiates eclipse season. The New Moon in Aquarius on the 17th is not only a potent solar eclipse but coincides with the beginning of the year of the Fire Horse. Things are about to heat up even more in the collective.
On a personal level, this Full Moon illuminates where you’ve been keeping yourself small and invites you to align with the unique creative spark than burns within us all - whether it is just beneath the surface or has been hidden for years. The Leo lunation reminds us that we don’t need to ask for approval to be ourselves. As we reclaim our sovereignty, we realize that we are the main characters of our own sacred story.
Sovereignty is one of those buzz words floating around social media that can be challenging to define. Sovereignty alludes to self-rule: having agency over our body, sexuality, life choices and direction. It is the ability to choose our own belief systems and step into a sense of personal power that is not dependent on outside validation or permission.
Sovereignty is about making space for what gives us joy and to embrace who we came here to be, to learn self-trust and develop self confidence that comes from the heart rather than external sources. This is how we can take our place as the wise archetypal Queen or King, as we realign with our true noble nature. It is then that we can take on the mantle of leadership and wear it with grace, to become a light for others.
Leo reminds us that self-expression through creativity is imagination embodied. It encourages us to be the one-of-a-kind creative beings we are. If creative expression was not valued in our younger years, old wounds may surface during this Full Moon. This is an opportunity to reclaim our birthright as a unique expression of the vital force, and allow ourselves to shine like the sun.
