Astrology by Danielle Blackwood: Full Moon AUGUST 2026 (PISCES)

Each Full Moon brings its own wisdom, teachings, and medicine through the lens of a particular archetype. The Full Moon will often bring something to fruition and illuminate things that have been hidden. Each month we experience a subtle shift as the Full Moon highlights specific archetypal themes, emotions, and feelings. For many, the Full Moon amplifies the way we interpret and experience both our inner world and the world around us.

Happy Full Moon in Pisces!

This month’s Full Moon at 4° Pisces (August 27th at 9:18 pm) is accompanied by a near total lunar eclipse that can deliver accelerated change as well as an interweaving of endings and new beginnings. The Moon will turn a reddish hue, known as a ‘Blood Moon’, so be sure to go outside if the skies are clear.

This is the last in a series of Pisces eclipses that began in September 2024. Take a moment to reflect on what’s shifted since then. What feels like it’s wrapping up? Where do you feel a sense of closure? Something may be revealed which can bring necessary release so a new story can begin.

Also look at what’s transpired in the last two weeks since this eclipse season began, this one could close one door, while opening another.

Eclipses are wild cards. They can accelerate our evolution, bring opportunity, and change things on a dime. Watch for plot twists, synchronicity, and curveballs. Lunar eclipses can also be potent resets when the landscape of our inner world is illuminated. Those with personal planets and important chart points from 0-8 degrees of mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) will feel this one directly.

This Full Moon, the Sun and Mercury are also square Uranus. We might feel restless, anxious, or on edge. A sudden bolt of lightning or an unexpected realization may shatter a false sense of security. Let it. Do not sacrifice your truth for a comfortable illusion. You are the protagonist of your own journey, and this disruption is a plot twist designed to return you to your authentic self.

This Full Moon/eclipse is also conjunct the north node, suggesting quantum leaps into new territory. Sudden breakthroughs and fated encounters can be catalysts for clarity.

Emotions are amplified during the Full Moon in Pisces. Healing tears may be shed, giving us the opportunity to finally release something we've been carrying for a long time. If you are feeling grief, be gentle with yourself. Take time to honour your emotions, and know that to feel is holy, and tears are a sacrament – a testament to how deeply we have loved.

Because Pisces rules the subconscious, your dream world may be intensely active this week. Old friends and loved ones may appear in the dreamtime to whisper the words we’ve longed to hear, bringing healing and redemption. As author Diane Ackerman wrote, “The heart is a living museum. In each of its galleries, no matter how narrow or dimly lit, preserved forever like wondrous diatoms, are our moments of loving, and being loved.”

Go to the water if you can and make an offering of the sacred gift of your tears. It’s OK to be soft right now. Give yourself permission to be vulnerable. Hold your wounded parts with compassion.

As with every Full Moon, the Sun is in the opposite sign (Virgo), highlighting a sacred polarity that plays out in the collective as well as in our personal lives. Once a year, the Moon waxes full in Pisces and we are invited to cross the threshold into the liminal.

Pisces medicine teaches faith, that it is OK to let go and trust. Pisces represents what may be the most sacred of all Mysteries, the promise of rebirth that is woven into all endings.

Pisces also teaches the necessity of healthy boundaries and to be aware of enmeshment as a substitute for connection. Or of giving away our power in exchange for approval. This Full Moon will shine a light on the ways we carry wounds, traumas, and responsibilities that belong to others.

On the other hand, the Sun is in earth sign Virgo, providing solid ground, discernment and safety. Although we may not know exactly how our new stories will unfold, Virgo medicine reminds us that if we tend to the practicalities, nurture our bodies and nervous system, while putting one foot in front of the other, all shall be well.

Be gentle with yourselves this week, and always.
