Each Full Moon brings its own wisdom, teachings, and medicine through the lens of a particular archetype. The Full Moon will often bring something to fruition and illuminate things that have been hidden. Each month we experience a subtle shift as the Full Moon highlights specific archetypal themes, emotions, and feelings. For many, the Full Moon amplifies the way we interpret and experience both our inner world and the world around us.
Happy Full Moon in Taurus!
This month the Full Moon arrives at 13° Taurus, illuminating the sky on Wednesday November 5th at 5:19 am. As with every Full Moon, the Sun is in the opposite sign, highlighting a sacred polarity that plays out in the collective as well as in our personal lives.
Astronomical or ‘true’ Samhain occurs within the engagement range of this Full Moon - November 6th at 8:04 pm - this is the exact mathematical midpoint between autumn equinox and the winter solstice, and a powerful moment for magic.
During this time of year, we stand on the shore gazing across the threshold that connects us with the Otherworld. Spring and Autumn have long been considered portals or entryways into the liminal. And while Spring is the unfurling of new life, and Autumn represents the dying of the agricultural year in the northern hemisphere, they are inextricably connected and reflect the cycles of ebb and flow in our own lives. The same newborn leaves that we beheld only six months ago, now blaze with shades of amber and scarlet, their edges frayed with fragile bronze that crumbles at our fingertips.
This is a natural time for turning within, to deepen into our essential self. It is a threshold
time that reminds us of the fleeting nature of life, which invites us to treasure every moment as the gift it is. While this is a time for letting go, it is also a time for contemplation, to examine our lives and live every day with more intent. Yet as we meditate on the ephemeral nature of life, we see that the new green growth that will return next spring is always woven into the endings.
The Taurus/Scorpio polarity teaches us to trust the cycles and lean into the rhythm of the great wheel.
The ruler of the Taurus Full Moon is Venus, specifically in her aspect of Aphrodite Pandemos – an earthy, sensual goddess of the Greek pantheon associated with the body and the pleasures of physical love. For many, healthy self-defined sexuality is an ongoing quest that is fraught with challenges both on a personal level and from the collective. We may have a history of sexual trauma. Perhaps we are recovering from a broken heart. We may be aging and question our validity in a culture that does not always seem to value the experience and wisdom of age.
We are subjected to a bombardment of cultural expectations and stereotypes that may have made us question at some point whether we are enough, or too much. We may compare ourselves to impossible airbrushed ideals and contradictory constructs that erode our self-worth. This Full Moon invites us to develop self-worth on our own terms, to build a new relationship with our body and to prioritize practical self-care. Let this Full Moon be a gateway to give ourselves the space, time and permission to heal and discover our innate sensuality, and to reclaim a self-defined relationship to our bodies.
It’s time to reject those false constructs that would make us small, so we can celebrate who we are and reclaim joy and safety in our bodies. And because Uranus, the revolutionary planet of change, freedom and unexpected breakthroughs is woven into this lunation, it’s time to forge a radically embodied relationship with our own definition of pleasure and beauty.
Taurus is also connected to security, resources and stability. This Full Moon portal will ask us to examine the roots of any self-limiting beliefs or scarcity mindsets, while contemplating what abundance and beauty means to us. Taurus medicine teaches us the value of right livelihood. We may receive the opportunity to reassess our core values and build a new chapter based on what’s important to us now. Taurus reminds us to be mindful of where we invest our resources, time, and effort.
Note: Mercury stations retrograde on November 9th through November 29th. Remember to paraphrase to avoid misunderstandings, pause before acting, and leave early for important appointments. Expect minor delays and take it in stride. The best way to use this energy is pause and make sure you’re on the right track. Revise, reimagine, and go back to the drawing board if necessary. Your future self will thank you.
