Canucks Calendars for Children in Hospice

One minute on the Facebook page for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice is a bitter-sweet experience. The page reveals stories and photos of families who have a child struggling with life-limiting conditions. And in any given moment, about 1,400 children in British Columbia are doing just that.

It’s a truth that motivates many, from private donors to corporate sponsors. One of these sponsors is the Canucks for Kids Fund. That’s right―the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks answered the call for support shortly after the vision was born for North America’s first children’s hospice. And one of the ways that the team raises money for the fund is through the sales of Canucks Calendars, which are available at any BC Pharmasave.

The calendar includes the official game schedule, a selection of great team photos, and some valuable coupons. Partial proceeds from the calendar sales are donated to the Canucks For Kids Fund. Moreover, each one includes an exclusive code that enters you and your family into a draw to win a Canucks ticket pack, and there are five contest draws.

With Christmas around the corner and Canucks’ fans in every family, it’s an ideal stocking stuffer. The 2016‒17 Canucks Calendar is selling for $8.99 and is available at local Pharmasave locations. Another reason it’s a perfect gift is that its sales direct much needed money toward the ever-growing demand for services at the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

Canuck Place has two locations, one in Vancouver and one in Abbotsford. Both facilities are recognized as being leaders in the field of pediatric palliative care, yet they offer more than palliative care.

Canuck Place works with families from the point of diagnosis throughout the progression of illness, to death and beyond. That journey includes recreation therapy and camps, memory-making programs, and bereavement groups for parents and siblings. All team members of the Canucks donate time and energy into making special moments for families and their kids undergoing treatment at the centres.

Calendars are on sale at Pharmasave until supplies last, but they’re usually gone by Christmas―don’t miss out on this opportunity to support this amazing charity!
