Beginning tomorrow, BC Ferries will be implementing a pilot project to allow free foot passenger reservations for customers travelling from Tsawwassen to any island serviced on the Tsawwassen-Southern Gulf Islands route. Walk-on passengers can now guarantee boarding on a sailing to Salt Spring, Galiano, Saturna, Pender or Mayne Islands. Pilot to run May 1 – September 7, 2015
Details of this reservations offering include:
- Reservations offered for Tsawwassen departures only, space is limited
- Full fare must be paid in advance by phoning BC Ferries Customer Call Centre or with BC Ferries Vacations
- Fares are non-refundable, but are transferable to another sailing
- No fee for reservations, no fee for changes
- Reservations can be made up to two hours prior to desired sailing
- Customers must check-in a minimum of 40 minutes prior to scheduled sailing time
“BC Ferries has heard from walk-on passengers of this route that they would like the option of making a reservation during particularly busy summer sailings,” said Corrine Storey, BC Ferries’ Vice President of Customer Services. “Therefore, we have developed this pilot reservation offer to help provide assurance to those customers who have a need to take a specific sailing.”
During this pilot, BC Ferries will allocate a portion of total passenger space for walk-on reservations. There will still be walk-on passenger spots available for customers who wish to purchase a ticket at the terminal prior to sailing time.
