This Weeks Featured Local People Profile is Gary Quiring
Gary Quiring, describes himself as being raised on Salt Spring Island by blue collar hippies. Once his hippie raising was complete he left the island to pursue his passion for music, which led to a career in show business for almost 20 years. Before he decided to escape the Rat Race and returned to Salt Spring Island to raise a family and assist the family business. We caught up with him at the Saltspring Soapworks downtown to ask him our favourite five short questions.
Q. What brought you to Salt Spring Island.
A. My Parents moved us here from the mainland to become hippies in 1973
Q. What one thing about Salt Spring would you tell someone who has never visited the island.
A. It's like a Rabbit Hole here and I dare you to enter.
Q. If you had a magic Salt Spring wand, what island thing would you change.
A. We have so much potential on our Island . I would take the collective foot off of the brakes.
Q. Which well known person, living or dead, do you think would be a good addition to the island.
A. Bruce Lee !!!
Q. Is there a really good interview question should I have asked you....and what would the answer be.
1. You should have asked me "What is your favorite hiking trail"?
2. It's the Girlfriend trail from the Burgoyne Barn to the top of Mount Maxwell. 2000 ft straight up. Go do it!
